Why we built ClearResume
Applying for a job means writing for three readers who never agree. The ATS wants plain, parseable text. The hiring manager wants something that reads like a person made it. And increasingly, an AI screener reads it first and decides whether a human ever will.
Most resume tools optimize for exactly one of those readers and quietly break the other two — multi-column layouts that look sharp but get shredded by a parser, or “ATS-safe” templates so plain no human wants to read them. Worse, many lock your finished resume behind a surprise paywall at the download button.
We built ClearResume to do all three at once, and to be honest about it. One resume that parses cleanly, reads beautifully, and carries structured data for AI screeners. Building and exporting are free — no download paywall, ever.
On “honest” AI
AI tailoring is genuinely useful — it reframes your real experience to match a specific role. But it’s also where most tools cross a line, inventing metrics and responsibilities that were never yours. Our tailoring reprioritizes what’s true and flags anything it adds so you confirm every claim before you send it. The goal is to make your real story land, not to fabricate a better one.
Proof over claims
Every builder claims to be “ATS-friendly.” We let you check: the live X-ray renders your resume and re-extracts the text exactly like a parser would, then shows you what survived. What you see is what the software sees.
